καλως ΗΡΘΑΤΕ

That's Greek for WELCOME! And that is what we'd like to say to you right now...Welcome to Glendi Designs!

Many of you are probably asking...what is a Glendi? It's another Greek word. Only it means CELEBRATION!

Here at Glendi Designs, we want you to be in a constant state of life celebration...and so our goal is to make sure everything we do helps you always be celebrating life!

A little about us...

Michael Loucks and Deborah Perdue met in December of 1993 - engaged Valentine's Day of 1994 and married September 24, 1994. Not even a 12 month courtship! And even though we had a lot of pushback, we knew we were meant to be together and so we fought all the negativity and naysayers and marched forward to be Mr. & Mrs.

Deb is a college and life trained artist and Michael is a Marketing dude and trainer at heart. We did outdoor shows for many years in the late 1990's and early 2000's, but quickly grew tired of the constant set up, sit in the heat, tear down aspect of that life. So we gave it up. And we both focused on our corporate America careers.

Fast forward to 2009...Deb gets laid off, we adopt our son and suddenly, the art bug, never fully leaving Deb, rears it's head again. It takes us until 2011 to figure out what that looks like, but when we do, we dive in head first. We open an ecommerce store coupled with selling repurposed furniture at local shops around the Piedmont-Triad of NC. All is great until 2015 when we decide to relocate to the coast of NC. So we shut it all down to focus on the move and resettling at the coast.

Finally settled in a permanent home in 2017, we decide once again to go back to what we love- ecommerce with Deb designing a line of graphics centered around The Barksdale Gang, and Michael reverting to marketing. And that is how we came to start up Glendi Designs.

But why the name Glendi?

Michael is 50% Greek...and growing up as a child, his family lived on the Tennessee River and loved boating. Their boats were named Glendi, becasue time on the boat was ALWAYS a celebration; full of family, friends and even people we had previoulsy never met. Over time, all of those people became "framily." So when we started to think of business names, we began to think of what is important to us. We decided that what mattered most to us were these things:

1. Our Faith

2. Our Family

3. Our History

Looking at those 3 items, we came up with Glendi from Michael's past. Becasue it really does define how Deb and Michael try to live their life. They choose to celebrate their God and Savior. They celebrate each other and they embrace and celebrate their history. Not just from their childhood, but as a couple, becasue it has really defined their marriage and values.

So there you go...Glendi y'all!

CELEBRATE

We could all use a little more celebration in life- don't you agree?
